This weekend the U of O debate squad set its sights on regional domination. The Whitman National Policy Tournament was hosted over the weekend in Walla Walla, Washington. The ducks took three duos of debaters down I-84 and made their impression felt. The team of Roger Copenhaver and Cameron Thurber had one of their most successful outings as they finished 4th, as semifinalists. The team of Bergus and Gaffney continue to be a late out round fixture, as they were eliminated in the other semifinal, finishing third. The top teams from the University of Puget Sound and Whitman squared off in the final round after each of their narrow escapes from the Ducks in the semis.
Oregon’s next tournament will be in Southern California over winter vacation. If you are interested in joining the debate team or just want to find out more information they can be found during the HC399 class in Chapman on Tuesday nights.
